After almost 40 years of marching along 5th Avenue, they will do 3rd Avenue starting this year. The turnout hasn't been very good recently, so they will try the different route hoping to get more people attending. The original route was 8th Avenue before 5th Avenue when there was a large Scan...MORE...

I see where they are going to build another pier to launch rowboats, kyacks, sailboats, etc. It is supposed to be attached somehow to the existing pier.
Okay. This sounds like it will cost a lot of money. Once again, I can't see spending money for projects that aren't necessary while cutt...MORE...

Microstamping is when they etch a microscopic code on something, like the firing pin of a gun, for instance. Yes, I know sounds stupid, doesn't it? But that's what Democrat Brian Kieran is using to campaign against Republican State Senator Marty Golden. Yes, Marty has competition this next electi...MORE...

Another service is being cut because of 'budget cuts' (see other story about Beacon Community Center being closed also). I was reading the local papers and saw it is being closed at the end of the month. The St John's center is at the church on 99th street. They provide social, nutritional and me...MORE...

I was reading the local papers and came across an article and the BR Food Coop was mentioned. I can't remember the article now, but it was in local papers.
I remember many years ago, I think about 2007, people talking about it and I didn't think it was such a good idea. Not that it wasn't...MORE...

The parade had been cancelled because the state pulled back funding for it. Goes to show you where the priorites are in New York. They keep traffic agents who seem to get paid for just standing on corners instead of directing traffic. I see them every day on my drive from Bay Ridge through the bo...MORE...
